Peru Town Board Approves Salt Grant, Planning Board Shifts, and $1.1 Million in Bills

Peru's Town Board unanimously approved an $86,299.48 Lake Champlain Basin Program grant for highway brine-salt equipment and cleared more than $1.1 million in town bills at its May 28 regular meeting. The four-member board, with Barber, Bruno, Irwin, and Randall all voting yes on every roll call, also approved two Planning Board membership changes, moving Allison Webinaro from full-time to alternate member and elevating Patrick McFarland to her vacated full-time seat, both effective immediately. A $12,165.40 transfer from the debt service account to the H34 water treatment plant project fund was approved as a bridge payment pending Environmental Facilities Corporation reimbursement.

The board passed on a voice vote the appointment of Recreation Director Kristen Marino's daughter as summer assistant recreation director at $1,000, after two rounds of public advertising drew no outside applicants. Two residents pressed the board on an unresolved dispute over a contract with an entity called LCT, but the chair declined to respond, citing the absence of town counsel.
