Peru Town Board Approves Dog Kennel Contract, Food Scrap Funding, and Multiple Construction Payments

Peru Town Board clears 18 items unanimously, tables disc golf sign over funding questions. The board approved a six-month dangerous-dog housing contract with White Knight Kennels of Morris, New York at $2,500 through December 31, with a return to the standard $5,000 annual agreement set for January 2027. A food scrap hauling memorandum of understanding with the Clinton County Health Department, reimbursing the town up to $3,600 for a 12-month contract, was also approved, covering a program that currently serves about 38 households.

A financial advisory retainer with Fiscal Advisors and Marketing Incorporated — not to exceed $24,900 — was authorized for the town's state-mandated $9.5 million water treatment plant project, designated DWSRF 19-830. Four wastewater construction payment applications totaling more than $360,000 were approved, along with a $13,732.15 final retainage release to Luck Brothers Incorporated for the completed Fuller Road Culvert project. The board tabled a $5,200 disc golf signage purchase from Signs and More after members noted no funding source had been firmly identified, directing members to explore hole sponsorships and consult the town attorney on whether the town can lawfully collect tournament revenue on the Silo property course.
