Stockbridge Bowl Committee Sets July 2 Date to Present Lake Management Plan to Select Board

LENOX — May 28, 2026 — Stockbridge's lake advisory committee finalizes format of long-pending Bowl Management Plan and schedules July 2 Select Board presentation. The committee, meeting in hybrid format on May 28, reaffirmed a prior vote to replace the original GZA-authored executive summary in the 2022 watershed-based plan with a plain-language update drafted by member Lewis, plus a closing paragraph by member Don — dating the revised document 2026. Chair Michael said he will transmit bound copies to all three Select Board members and the town administrator this week, accompanied by a cover letter noting the plan is required by town bylaws for the committee. Member Rachel noted, "Not only is it an important document, but it's also required by the bylaws for the SPSC." Separately, an unresolved dispute with a state agency over what "one pass" means in the water chestnut harvesting permit remains without resolution, with state contact Deanne Merrill writing on May 21 that she needs to consult with her supervisor and invertebrate biologists before determining next steps under the Massachusetts Invasive Species Act.
