Select Board sets Nov. 5 special town meeting

Select Board · Meeting of September 2, 2026

Lenox Select Board sets a November 5 special town meeting and previews a warrant heavy on bank donations and housing policy. Town Manager Jay R. Green told the board the draft warrant, due October 7, is expected to include roughly six parking spaces donated by Beacon Bank, an Adams Community Bank easement for EV chargers, a nearly 250-year-old Church on the Hill ownership resolution, and a school-bus-passing bylaw.

Board member Jared Weber asked whether the board would host a fall workshop on a "seasonal communities" housing designation the Planning Board has been studying; Green said the designation "is really just an approval" that would not commit Lenox to specific policy and pointed to an ongoing regional study with Berkshire Regional Planning Commission. Separately, the board closed a public hearing and unanimously approved a change of manager to Justin Carfotes and change of officers for the Lenox Club of Lenox's liquor license, after the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission had rejected the club's earlier filing. Club representative Thomas Hamill said the club "kicked back" filing stemmed from ABCC recognizing only prior-approved signatories on the nonprofit's license.
