Panel finalizes Select Board expansion survey
Select Board · Meeting of September 2, 2026
Stockbridge study panel polishes survey on expanding its three-member Select Board. The Select Board Study Committee spent its September 2 meeting rewording and expanding a questionnaire headed to current and former Select Board members, settling on electronic distribution over member Peter Strauss's push for an anonymous mailed paper survey. Committee member Georgia said she proposed the panel to get ahead of conflict seen "in a neighboring town" over a citizen's petition to expand that town's board from three to five members.
Member Don countered mid-debate, "I keep getting the feeling we're overthinking this." No final vote adopted the survey; the committee scheduled a five-minute session for 9 a.m. Thursday, September 10, to approve a corrected version, with distribution targeted for the week of September 21 and results due for review October 29.
