Panel approves minutes, little else, in stalled session
Other Committee · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Great Barrington's Ramsdell Building Committee hit a wall on cost, archives and parking. Members approved their August 25 minutes unanimously but took no other formal votes, instead agreeing to write Town Manager Liz Hartsgrove and the Select Board asking for a DPW committee appointee and help mediating a standoff between library trustees and the Great Barrington Historical Commission over the building's archives. Roughly $8,000 remains for a construction cost estimate, but members split over ordering it before a state library board rules on a deadline extension — the state now wants an in-person pitch at its November meeting rather than a letter.
Parking remains constrained to a handful of spots, with a neighboring church cooling on a shared-lot idea. "The net of this meeting is the only actions we've agreed on," the chair said, naming just two modest follow-ups.
