Lenox OKs RFP to Add Cell Antennas to Safety Tower
Select Board · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Lenox Select Board advances a cell tower RFP and refunds cannabis fees. The board unanimously approved terms for a request for proposals allowing wireless carriers to install antennas on the town's emergency communications tower, with staff member Eamon Coughlin and Town Manager Jay R. Green citing chronic dead zones along the bypass; Police Chief Smith called the project a tool that "would be huge for us." The lease would run 10 years with two five-year extensions, with a $10,000 placeholder minimum rent expected to draw offers of $45,000 to $60,000 annually.
Separately, the board voted to return $36,804.78 in community impact fees to Krishna Lenox, LLC, doing business as Kapha Cannabis Dispensary, and approved a reconfigured, road-closure-free layout for the Chamber of Commerce's September 26 Apple Squeeze festival.
