Lenox bans parking near Elm Street fire station
Select Board · Meeting of August 5, 2026
Lenox Select Board bans parking near Lenox Dale fire station over truck access. The board voted unanimously to prohibit parking on both sides of School Street for 100 feet north of Elm Street, effective October 1, 2026, after the fire chief said the department's newer, longer engine has struggled to exit the station's rear driveway when cars park along a grassy strip near a corner property, forcing detours through Crystal Street. "It's hard getting a fire truck out there.
Near impossible," the chief said. The board also approved its consent agenda, including one-day liquor licenses for Katia Galarza and Lee Ann Collins and a Lilac Park use request from the Lenox Youth Basketball Association. Board member Marybeth Mitts was absent; resident Sonia Bykofsky renewed a request for public tutorials on using the town website.
