Assessors Enter Session on Six Nonprofit Exemptions
Other Committee · Meeting of July 7, 2026
Stockbridge assessors flag staffing and phone gaps ahead of a state-mandated revaluation. Board members Doug, Gary and Chris approved prior minutes unanimously, then heard that longtime staffer Tammy is moving into a new town post, leaving excise abatements and a "floating position" extension unfilled. "It goes right to Tammy's phone.
Well, Tammy's no longer in the office," one assessor said, describing a phone system that still routes calls to her old line. The board also pushed to restore meeting-and-minutes duties to a proposed shared assistant post spanning three town offices, with a new tax collector-treasurer starting July 20. Members voted 3-0 by roll call to enter executive session reviewing Form 3ABC tax-exemption filings for six nonprofits, including Austin Riggs and the Berkshire Natural Resources Council.
