Select Board Names Cypress Negotiators Amid JMJ Rift
Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Lanesborough Select Board taps two members to negotiate directly with Cypress Equities after developer JMJ threatens to cut the town out. JMJ representative Joseph Jones told the board "we have not been part of your negotiation" and warned his firm would deal only with Cypress going forward. Chair Deborah Maynard and Vice Chair Julie Baker were unanimously appointed as the town's contacts.
The board also endorsed renaming the Baker Hill Road District the Baker Hill Business District, tracing the district's roots to 1989 legislation and a 2018 economic-development expansion. Members approved $986,337.76 in warrants and seated a seven-person town administrator screening committee, including Lyndon Moores, Ruth Kanish, Gwen Miller and Robert Dirksen, to sort roughly 45 applications.
