Select Board Fills School Committee Vacancy
Select Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
Stockbridge Select Board fills a school committee seat and locks in a decade-long fire deal. The board unanimously appointed Heather Campbell to the Berkshire Hills Regional School District Committee, the lone applicant for a seat vacated by Bill Voigt, and authorized a 10-year fire and EMS intermunicipal agreement with West Stockbridge requiring a minimum of eight staff for 24-hour coverage. Members also appointed firefighter-EMTs Daniel Toomey and Andrew Elbert, building inspector Shane Johnson, and Housing Authority member Chuck Gillette, and credited new Treasurer and Tax Collector Shana Roach with 10 years of public service, retroactive to her July 20 start date.
A damaged cupola will keep the town office's accessible entrance closed through the September 1 election. On a regional rides program losing its coordinator, one member said, "I don't think we have enough information," as driver failure rates reportedly climbed toward 47 percent.
