Select Board Divided Over Town Hall Floater Hire

Select Board · Meeting of August 6, 2026

Stockbridge Select Board splits over a Town Hall floater hire, then approves it anyway. Board member Jamie objected that Marie Ryan's appointment as administrative floater skipped the resume review and interviews used for highway, police and fire hires, saying "it's about process, not person." The board still appointed Ryan unanimously, approved her corrected offer letter (a date error read June 24 instead of the actual date), and tabled a proposed 7.5 percent experience-based pay bump to its August 20 meeting, retroactive if approved. Separately, the board unanimously appointed Kevin P.

Brown, a paramedic-licensed Stockbridge firefighter, to a career position. Board member Georgia reported the Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce, led by Director Barbara Zanetti, canceled its 34-year-old summer arts and crafts fair after a cupola structural emergency forced the closure of Town Hall's parking lot and restrooms.
