WILLIAMSTOWN — The Williamstown Planning Board voted 4-0 to approve a parking determination letting the Clark Art Institute build its Davidian Wing addition without added parking. Clark Deputy Director Robin Schur told the board the museum already runs a "summer parking plan where the staff has to park sort of off-site" during peak visitorship, using shuttles, grass lots and borrowed spaces from Buxton School. Member Erik Reardon said "the Clark has managed the parking pretty well" and argued against imposing new requirements.
Separately, the board spent over an hour on a mixed-use zoning concept for the town's business districts, agreeing informally to require two or three stories minimum within the existing 35-foot height cap and to schedule a special meeting. The board also found approval unnecessary for a Hancock Road lot-line subdivision and reviewed dozens of proposed subdivision-regulation changes, including a proposed four-to-six-year cap on road-acceptance extensions, without taking formal votes on the zoning or subdivision items.
