WILLIAMSTOWN — Mount Greylock committee adopts new state restraint policy, backs reworked Cape Cod trip. The School Committee opened with a moment of silence for student Max Rothschild before voting 6-0 to adopt policy JKAA, updated restraint, seclusion and timeout rules Superintendent Joe Bergeron said the state "is unequivocal" in requiring. Members also voted 6-0 for initial fundraising approval on a reworked sixth grade Cape Cod trip, now pegged at roughly $32,000 plus $50 per student for a whale watch, after longtime organizer Rob Bradley's retirement.

Member Carrie Conry called the trip vote "precedent setting." The committee separately extended its Dufour Transportation busing contract one year at a 4 percent rate increase and approved a five-year Pitney Bowes lease for Williamstown Elementary School, both by 6-0 roll call.
