Lenox Planning Board Elects Officers, Approves East Street Lot Division

LENOX — June 2, 2026 — Lenox Planning Board unanimously approves East Street lot division and conditionally OKs coffee-shop sign. The board endorsed a Form A Approval Not Required application for 11A East Street, where surveyor Patrick McCulkin presented plans to divide a parcel owned by Vincent Cavillow to create a lot for Cavillow's nephew, Bryce Whalen, accessed by a roughly 100-foot driveway through a corridor dating to a 1953 layout. The board also approved a sign permit for Noah Keith's coffee and tea shop relocating to 10 Elm Street — conditioned on the sign not exceeding the bylaw maximum of four square feet, after members calculated the submitted 25-by-25-inch rendering at 625 square inches exceeded the limit by 49 square inches. In its annual reorganization, the board re-elected Kate as chair, elevated Peter to vice chair, retained Wayne as clerk, re-designated Liz to the Community Preservation Committee, and named Kate as its Berkshire Regional Planning Commission representative. The board also received an update on new state energy-siting regulations taking effect July 1, with a town compliance deadline of October 1 — and Kate reported that when she asked the state Department of Energy Resources whether towns had been given adequate time to prepare conforming bylaws, the answer was no.
