Dalton Board Puts Tiny-Home Article Before Voters
Select Board · Meeting of June 9, 2026
Dalton Select Board unanimously sends contested tiny-home zoning article to voters. Vice Chair John Boyle objected that placing the citizen petition on the June 29 special town meeting warrant amounted to endorsing a change to the town's mobile-home bylaw, but Chair Bob Bishop and member Tony Pagliarulo said the board had a procedural duty to forward it after a town error delayed the required Planning Board hearing. Petitioner Amy Turnbull's last-minute wording changes were rejected; she'll have to offer them from the floor at town meeting.
Separately, the board authorized a roughly $3,000 wetlands study of a $69,700 West Housatonic Street parcel for a police and fire facility, which Bishop said is "over $850,000 cheaper" than two other sites, and formed a new five-member siting committee that includes Police Chief Deanna Strout.
