Dalton Board OKs $2 Million Bridge Grant

Select Board · Meeting of July 13, 2026

Dalton Select Board accepts $1 million state grant toward a $2 million Grange Hall Road culvert replacement. Town Manager Eric Anderson told the board the project, swapping a failing twin steel culvert for a box culvert, will require roughly $1 million more in local funds, likely drawn from the town's $1.49 million capital stabilization fund rather than new debt. The board also declared Dalton a Purple Heart community at the request of Historical Commission co-chair Deborah Kovacs and accepted a $31,000 gift from the estate of Robert P.

Neff for the senior center. Member Tony Pagliarulo pushed back on rushing new financial policies, asking "are we being presented this as a courtesy, or do we have any real input?" and the board tabled four of five proposed policies to August 17. Resident Cheryl Nelson asked for compensation after "at least 25 times" of sewer flooding in 37 years; the board took no action but directed the town manager to consult counsel.
