Conservation Commission · Meeting of October 22, 2026
Williamstown's Conservation Commission added two state wildlife conditions to a Cold Spring Road project and closed the hearing. A member said MassWildlife's Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program required a drill fluid release plan and a compliance report, due within 30 days of finishing the work. Commissioners voted 6-0 to impose the commission's standard conditions and 6-0 to add the state's two.
An applicant representative said the stream holds a longnose sucker and that "we haven't had a frac out before." The engineer said horizontal drilling can advance 400 to 500 feet a day. A MassDOT permit to get under the road was the remaining step.
