Commission Approves Barn Rebuild, Park Upgrade Plan
Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Williamstown Conservation Commission approves Hancock Road barn rebuild, opens door to a permit fee hike. The commission voted 6-0 to clear a request to rebuild a barn on property owned by Steve Pagnotta, represented by Charlie Labatt of Guntlow Associates, attaching its standard six conditions. Conservation Agent Andrew Groff told members the town's $60 filing fee lags most of Berkshire County, where Dalton charges $125 and Lee a flat $300, after a single newspaper notice cost $200; member Delia Marshall will develop a proposed fee scale.
One member said fees "should be as low as possible." The commission also unanimously approved Laura Schoenbaum's Bloedel Park landscaping plan, and longtime member Tim Carr announced his resignation as Cosmo Catalano awaits Select Board confirmation to replace him. Separately, officials flagged a years-long riverbank erosion problem threatening a Bingham Street home.
