School Committee · Meeting of June 18, 2026

GREAT BARRINGTON — Berkshire Hills school panel renames finance subcommittee, backs Bahamas shark trip. The School Committee voted 7-0 six separate times, including to rename its Finance Subcommittee the Budget Planning Working Group after member Rich DeHoney said the old name caused confusion with municipal finance boards, saying "people think that we are doing the same thing that those other committees are doing." Members also approved a proposed spring trip sending 14 students to a Bahamas shark research station at roughly $2,500 per student, accepted a middle-school-funded hallway television donation, and approved revised maintenance job descriptions. Superintendent Dr.

Peter Dillon's annual evaluation, credited with the high school building project and a new literacy curriculum, was accepted unanimously. The committee also paid tribute to retiring Du Bois Regional Middle School Principal Jake McCandless, who called his final two years "the most meaningful" of his three-decade career.
