Stockbridge Fire Station Committee Launches Designer Search, Eyes DPW Site
LENOX — April 14, 2026 — Stockbridge Fire Station Building Committee kicks off designer procurement with project manager Skanska. At the April 14 hybrid meeting, the committee approved October minutes on a unanimous roll-call vote and launched into a working session with Skanska project manager Aaron and assistant project manager Hope Bougier, who outlined a plan to circulate a draft designer Request for Qualifications within two weeks. The committee's feasibility study budget is $75,000, with roughly $41,000 remaining after Skanska's fee; the group discussed targeting a designer contract of approximately $35,000 to $36,000, with comparable studies running $25,000 to $35,000. The DPW yard on Route 102 emerged as the leading site candidate, favored for town ownership, existing infrastructure, and on-site fueling, though the committee flagged potential subsurface complications from the site's history as a water treatment construction zone. The committee set the third Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. as its regular meeting time, with May 21 as the next session, and agreed to form a two-member working subcommittee to handle interim coordination without triggering open-meeting-law quorum requirements.
