Lenox Conservation Commission Schedules April 23 Site Visit for Monastery Parking Project

LENOX — April 14, 2026 — Lenox Conservation Commission schedules April 23 site visit for Marian Fathers monastery parking project, approves ADU plans, and hears first presentation on resort redevelopment. The commission set a 2:30 p.m. site visit at the Vine Street monastery after its consultant David reported observing sediment overwhelming an erosion control structure during a Friday inspection of the existing on-site construction project; the proposed parking addition would add roughly 30,000 square feet of new impervious surface, triggering a stormwater permit. Members voted unanimously to approve plans for an accessory dwelling unit at 108 Interlaken Road — a 25-by-37-foot structure on helical piers above the floodplain — and to uphold a Mass DEP fee determination that added $390 to the permit cost. Engineer Jason Lease of SK Design Group presented a phase one stormwater permit application for the former Windsor Mountain property at 3537 Interlaken Road, describing less than a quarter-acre of new impervious surface and a new southern detention basin designed to redirect driveway runoff away from an undersized culvert at Interlaken Road; neighboring resident Josh Petter told the board the southern driveway has caused flooding and foundation damage at his property for more than 20 years. The commission's consultant said the 10-standard Mass DEP analysis appeared substantially complete and that the project, once built, should represent a significant improvement over existing drainage conditions at the undeveloped site.
