Stockbridge Conservation Commission Approves Redesigned ADU Plan at 8 Shamrock Street

STOCKBRIDGE — April 14, 2026 — Stockbridge Conservation Commission approves redesigned ADU plan and receives first look at Interlaken resort stormwater permit. The commission voted unanimously April 14 to approve plans for a detached accessory dwelling unit at 8 Shamrock Street after the applicant relocated the structure to 70 feet from a nearby stream, eliminating a previously proposed encroachment into the resource area buffer. The board also unanimously approved a minor revision to the order of conditions at 6 Colonial Road, accepting a one-foot floor elevation reduction that required only modest regrading. The most time-consuming discussion involved a phase one stormwater permit presentation by Jason Lease of SK Design Group for the Interlaken Road Realty Trust resort project, which received Select Board approval last fall; the commission's consultant said the design appeared to meet all 10 of Massachusetts DEP's stormwater management standards and called it "a huge improvement" over existing unmanaged conditions on the site. Neighboring resident Josh Payron described years of foundation damage he attributes to uncontrolled drainage from the site's southern driveway, stating "my foundation's damaged — it has to be re-blocked." The commission scheduled site visits to the Marian Fathers monastery property and 27 Church Street for April 24.
