Select Board Appoints Klein, McNeil to Town Boards
Select Board · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Sheffield Select Board fills two board vacancies and rolls out a free device-loaner program. Members unanimously appointed Dr. David Klein to the Board of Health and Christopher McNeil, known as "Kip," to the Planning Board, filling out Robbie Cooper's term.
Renee Wood presented the state's "Online and Connected" digital equity program, which gave the town 82 devices, 40 laptops, 30 tablets, seven Chromebooks and five desktops, free to borrow for any Sheffield or Ashley Falls resident through December 31, becoming town property January 1, 2027. "This is a loaner program, not a giver program," Wood said. The board also approved the 2026 Trunk or Treat event and reviewed a test LED streetlight on County Road, installed after National Grid said it could no longer supply the town's current high-pressure sodium fixtures.
Resident Susan Butler raised questions about the town's unpaid, currently vacant tree warden role.
