Dalton Approves New Electric Rate After Cost Spike
Select Board · Meeting of February 10, 2026
Dalton Select Board approves an emergency electric rate hike after a cold-snap grid fee spiked roughly 200-fold. The board voted unanimously to let the town manager sign an amended supply agreement with First Point of Power LLC, raising the town's aggregation rate to 14.292 cents per kilowatt-hour, above Eversource's 13.683-cent basic rate, for more than 2,200 enrolled customers starting with March bills. The supplier's representative said the DASI cost recovery fee, "now like 1.25 cents," should cost the program $3 million to $3.25 million this year.
Separately, member Antonio Pagliarulo won unanimous support to hire a third-party accounting firm after officials acknowledged the town is roughly two years behind reconciling its cash books, with CPA rates running $185 to $225 an hour.
