Senior Fitness Class Moves to School for One Week

Becket Public Library's summer arts and wellness calendar continues into the final days of July, with a one-week venue change for the town's free senior fitness class and a new evening program pairing environmental history with storytelling.

TOWN HALL

The Becket Swap Shop at the Transfer Station, 238 Washington Street, is set to open Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the town's community bulletin. The Cemetery Commission and the Bylaw Review Committee are both scheduled to meet Thursday, July 30, at 10 a.m., continuing a busy summer of committee activity at Town Hall.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Free Senior Fitness Class, normally held at its usual location, will instead meet Friday, July 31, at 9 a.m. in the Community Room at Becket Washington School, per a notice on the town's events calendar. Creative Modern Dance with Louise follows that same morning at 10:30 a.m.

In the evening, storyteller Diane Edgecomb presents "Channeling Rachel Carson — A Nature Love Story For Our Time," running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on July 31, blending environmental history with a dramatized narrative voice inspired by the pioneering conservationist.

Looking further ahead, the library's exhibit calendar shows "The Chromatic Countryside" opening reception is set for later in the season, alongside the recurring Osteo/Chair Yoga for Seniors class and the Becket Athenaeum's Baby & Toddler Group, both regular weekly fixtures at the library.
