WILLIAMSTOWN — The Select Board unanimously approved the sale of 59 Water Street to Williams College for $500,000. A staff member named Bob said a separate disbursement sheet shows another $1.5 million coming to the town, for a negotiated total of $2 million, with closing set for Wednesday. The board also approved a hotel liquor license transfer, change of manager and management agreement for the 1896 House Inn, to be run by Rome Hospitality.
Public Works Director Craig Clough said a proposed Church Street crosswalk at Manning Street was "not the best place" for one, and the board took no action. The board put off a Community Preservation Committee appointment to Nov. 9 because applicant Anne did not attend.
