Road, Bridge Work Begins on County, Yokum Pond, Tyne Roads
Work has begun on a road and bridge improvement project spanning County, Yokum Pond and Tyne roads between Route 8 and the Becket/Lee line, including reconstruction of the Yokum Pond Road bridge, the town announced this week.
TOWN HALL
Crews are now on site working on the County, Yokum Pond and Tyne roads corridor, according to the town's News Flash, with the Yokum Pond Road bridge replacement as the centerpiece of the project. No completion date was posted.
Separately, the town is still looking for volunteers to help staff Becket's new Swap Shop at the Transfer Station, which is slated to open this summer. Officials have not said when the Swap Shop will open, and organizers say they need more help before it can.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Becket Athenaeum opened its newest gallery show, "The Chromatic Countryside," with a public reception on July 25. That evening, the library's Music Brings Communities Together concert series continued with a performance by the O-Tones, part of a summer lineup that drew an earlier crowd for musician Bobby Sweet.
