Margaret Lindley Park closes briefly for high bacterial count, then reopens; free Fitness Court classes offered Wednesdays in July.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The town's Recreation page carried two notable updates during the week of June 22–28.
**TOWN** Margaret Lindley Park was closed June 24 after water testing showed a high bacterial count in the swimming pond. The park reopened June 29 once bacterial levels returned to safe levels. The pond, operated by the Williamstown Conservation Commission, is open for swimming Memorial Day through Labor Day and staffed by a ranger during the summer season; dogs are not permitted.
Separately, the town announced free Fitness Court classes every Wednesday in July. The Fitness Court is located along the Mohican Recreational Path, the 2.5-mile paved trail that runs from Syndicate Road to The Spruces Park along the Hoosic River.
No high school games were reported for the period. No youth league or community sports activity was reported by available sources.
