Library Trustees Form Ramsdell Outreach Subcommittee
Library · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Great Barrington library trustees launch a Ramsdell outreach push amid Building Committee friction. Co-Chairs Laura Mars and Lauren Clark asked the board to form a standing Ramsdell Outreach Subcommittee, with Member G. Patrick Hollenbeck signing on to help organize monthly building tours set for Sept. 26, Oct. 24 and Nov. 21, capped at six visitors each.
Trustees plan farmers market tables in Great Barrington and Housatonic and are recruiting residents to write letters to the editor backing the renovation, while cautioning against "telling people what to do or what to say." Library Building Committee member Pam Sandler told trustees her committee felt like "the nasty stepchild" after learning only recently that architects had sent revised Ramsdell renderings to trustees, not her committee, for review. The board adjourned on a unanimous voice vote around 6:37 p.m. with three members still on the call.
