Lanesborough Faces Nearly 11 Percent Mount Greylock Assessment Hike in FY27

LANESBOROUGH — April 6, 2026 — Lanesborough boards face a combined regional school assessment increase exceeding 10 percent for FY27. At a joint Select Board and Finance Committee meeting on April 6, Mount Greylock Regional School District Superintendent Joe Bergeron presented a budget carrying a 10.99 percent assessment increase for Lanesborough and 13.61 percent for Williamstown, driven by the end of deliberate deficit spending from reserves — roughly a third of the total increase, or about $625,000 — an 8.75 percent health insurance hike affecting a $750,000 budget line, and a $550,000 spike in out-of-district special education placements.
