DALTON — April 13, 2026 — Dalton Select Board forwards Syncon Plastics tax increment financing deal to town meeting and discloses a same-day lawsuit from Berkshire County Concrete. Town Manager Eric Bracy told the board Monday that BCC's law firm had served the town around 4 p.m. over a Planning Board decision, with Bracy expecting litigation to run three to five years. Minutes earlier, the board unanimously voted to recommend the TIF agreement between the town, DKA Realty LLC, and Syncon Plastics to the May 4 annual town meeting; the deal offers a five-year sliding tax exemption — 100 percent in year one declining to 20 percent by year four — in exchange for a net addition of at least five jobs, with the company expected to relocate roughly 20 existing employees to Dalton and hire additional staff, positioning Syncon as the town's second-largest private employer behind Crane and Company. The board also approved a new wine and malt package store license for Lipton Incorporated on Main Street, a restaurant liquor license transfer from Dewey's Food Group LLC to Riverside Public House LLC, a $5,532.29 library gift from the Teconic Community Foundation, and a unanimous vote to form an ad hoc committee to study electronic voting devices for future town meetings — with the town clerk's preferred vendor, Meridia, still having failed to provide cost figures three to four weeks after being asked.
