Berkshire Hills School Committee Unanimously Appoints New District Treasurer Ahead of Bond Work

LENOX — May 7, 2026 — Berkshire Hills Regional School District School Committee took four unanimous votes at its May 7 meeting, advancing key preparations for the Monument Mountain Regional High School construction project. The committee appointed Kami Lamica of Wilbraham as district treasurer effective July 1, replacing retiring treasurer Dick Cheney, just as the district prepares to issue bonds for the high school project and has already held a preliminary bond-rating call with S&P Global. The committee also formally approved an 11-item proprietary technology list for the new high school — covering systems from Aruba network switches to Triton vape detection sensors — which will be certified to the Massachusetts School Building Authority ahead of project bidding. A fourth vote endorsed a state proposal to raise the per-pupil school choice reimbursement from $5,000 to $7,500, a level Superintendent Peter Dillon noted falls well short of the roughly $11,000 the original 1991 rate would have reached at 3 percent annual growth.
