The Berkshire Athenaeum has partnered with Downtown Pittsfield, Inc. to turn National Library Card Sign-Up Month into a savings drive for residents. Cardholders who sign up or renew during September will be eligible for discounts at participating downtown businesses, part of a push to link the library's services to the city's commercial core.

The library also marked a smaller milestone Wednesday evening, holding a release party from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to unveil a new 3D printer now available for public use at the Athenaeum.
