Lee Conservation Commission Continues Marriott Hotel Floodplain Review to July

LENOX — June 17, 2026 — Lee Conservation Commission continues review of a proposed 74-room Marriott Hotel in a floodplain zone. The commission voted unanimously at its June 17 meeting to continue the Notice of Intent hearing for Garden Management Incorporated's proposed four-story, 11,577-square-foot hotel at 165 Housatonic Street, Map 19, Lot 4, pending written comments from third-party wetland scientist David Cameron and unresolved state DEP review comments. Civil engineer Brian Sider of 4-State, appearing remotely, acknowledged the applicant has not yet submitted a foot-by-foot compensatory flood storage plan required under 310 CMR. Abutter attorney Dennis E. G. Egan Jr. of Cohen, Kinney, Valensenti, and Cook formally requested the commission deny the application, while abutter Sam Patel asked the commission to require the applicant to seek a MEPA advisory opinion, arguing the project may trigger state environmental review requirements. The hearing was continued to July 1.
