Fire station committee picks CBA for design study
Other Committee 2026-07-13 Part 2 · Meeting of July 13, 2026
Stockbridge Fire Station Planning Committee unanimously recommends CBA for the town's fire station feasibility study. Committee member Scott reported reference calls on both finalists, CBA and EDM, turned up mostly glowing feedback, with one CBA client saying they "probably wouldn't hire them again" over a code dispute. Members favored CBA's in-house structural staff over EDM's reliance on outside consultants, with one member saying "I just don't see that with Wendell" regarding EDM's staffing.
Project manager Aaron projected the eventual construction will be "a hundred percent" a hard-bid job, citing Williamstown's roughly $19 million to $20 million fire station as a comparable. The committee set a July 16 Select Board referral, a contract execution target of August 4, and a tentative August 6 project kickoff.
